How to Check the Oil Level in Your Car

3. Pull out the dipstick and wipe the oil.
4. Re-insert the dipstick back into its tube.
5. Pull out the dipstick again to see how much oil is there by looking at the level.

If the top of your oil streak is between two marks or within a crosshatched area, the oil level is right. But, if the oil is not in those areas, you need to add more oil. Every vehicle does not use the same oil. Be sure only to add the oil grade that your owner’s manual recommends. When you are ready to add oil, only add a little at a time. Keep adding oil until it has reached the correct level.
